Browns | Plan to run more in 2012

The Cleveland Browns ranked dead-last in the NFL with four rushing touchdowns last season, and their longest run of the year went for 40 yards. In two season as the offensive coordinator for the St. Louis Rams, head coach Pat Shurmur gave the ball to RB Steven Jackson enough for him to gain 2,657 yards and average 327 carries per season. New offensive coordinator Brad Childress also likes to run the ball, so look for RB Trent Richardson, as well as the other running backs, to see ample touches this year.

Ravens | Rookies impress Pro Bowler

Baltimore Ravens rookie OLs Kelechi Osemele (quadriceps) and Gino Gradkowski have impressed Pro Bowl OG Marshal Yanda so far during offseason workouts. ‘They seem like good guys so far,’ Yanda said. ‘They seem like they want to work hard and they want to get in. In the classroom when we’re going through plays, they seem very into it and professional for young guys.’

Patriots | Matt Kopa on roster bubble

New England Patriots OT Matt Kopa, who spent a majority of the season on the team’s practice squad last season, is not a lock for the 53-man roster. The team has plenty of depth along the offensive line, and if the club elects to use OL Robert Gallery as a backup guard and tackle, it reduces Kopa’s chances even more.

Chargers | Melvin Ingram expected to be role player initially

The San Diego Chargers are expected to use LB Melvin Ingram as a pass rusher in the nickel defense and as part of a rotation at outside linebacker.

Our View: Ingram can be used at Defensive End as well. His best asset is the initial burst off the line of scrimmage. Expect the Chargers to use him in many different ways with the sole purpose of getting after the Quarterback.
