Rams | LG is a wide-open battle

The St. Louis Rams have a wide-open battle at the left guard position. The coaching staff likes the potential of OG Rokevious Watkins. However, he didn’t participate in the team’s three-day rookie camp after reporting overweight and out of shape. That means three competitors – OLs Bryan Mattison, Robert Turner and Quinn Ojinnaka – are in the mix for the starting job.

Rams | Matthew Mulligan trying to hold off challengers

St. Louis Rams TE Matthew Mulligan is tentatively consider the No. 3 tight end on the depth chart, but he is anything but a lock. He is trying to hold off challengers TEs Jamie Childers, Brody Eldridge, Cory Harkey, Mike McNeill and DeAngelo Peterson for a roster spot. His familiarity with the system of offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, from their days with the New York Jets, is expected to help his cause.

Rams | Five might be battling for roster spot

St. Louis Rams WRs Danario Alexander, Brandon Gibson, Austin Pettis, Greg Salas and Steve E. Smith are not considered locks for the team’s final roster out of training camp and the preseason. Smith showed progress as offseason workouts went on, and he might be a sleeper if healthy. Pettis has two games remaining on his four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.
