Redskins | Robert Griffin quickly winning over teammates

Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III has quickly impressed teammates in training camp, particularly through his leadership. ‘He’s the (bleeping) leader of this football team,’ TE Chris Cooley said. ‘I can honestly say that. He’s so real. There’s no B.S. This is who he is. I sit next to him in the team meetings, and there isn’t a guy on the team he doesn’t have a relationship with. Not one. He talks to everyone, he shares part of himself with everyone. He sends texts to everyone. Griff is our leader. People wonder if he’s the same guy they see being interviewed or in the commercials. He is. He is the kind of person you want to follow. It’s all real. It’s not B.S.’

Vikings | Adrian Peterson not thrilled to be on PUP list

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (knee) tried his best to convince the team not to place him on the Physically Unable to Perform list. ‘He put up a fight,’ head coach Leslie Frazier said. ‘Knowing Adrian like you guys do, he wanted to make sure. He said, ‘Coach, don’t hold me back.’ He wanted to get out there, but we’ve got to be smart. We need to see him do a few things and then make a determination. If he had his way, he’d be getting involved today.’

New York Jets QB Tim Tebow said he and QB Mark Sanchez have made a pact to not allow all of the intense scrutiny at training camp hurt their friendship. Tebow added the two quarterbacks have hit it off since Tebow arrived in a trade from the Denver Broncos. ‘It is a strong relationship and it is genuine and we know we have to have a great relationship because of the scrutiny and everybody watching,’ Tebow said. ‘We just have to handle this pretty well. But also just because there’s stuff more important than just winning football games. But also, he’s someone of extremely high character and a good person. I know regardless if we’re on the same team or opposing teams, we’re going to be friends.’

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson said he is motivated entering the 2012 season because there are critics who feel he is on the verge of exiting his prime. Johnson recently turned 31. ‘I’ve been hearing things (from) people saying I’m getting old,’ Johnson said. ‘I don’t feel old at all. I laugh at it, (but) it’s definitely motivation. I feel like I have a lot to prove. I want to show people I can still play at a high level. I know I can still put up big numbers.’
