Ryan Kalil’s Super Bowl guarantee? Yup, the Panthers are cool with it

Most people in the Charlotte area — and those who get the Interwebs — were probably checking their vision when they opened the Charlotte Observer this morning. In the paper, Panthers center Ryan Kalil took out an ad making a Super Bowl guarantee. Seriously. For the team that went 6-10 last year, even with superstar QB Cam Newton, it’s a bold statement. Well, it’s bold for any team. So, I just finished up watching the Panthers work out and interestingly, they didn’t mind. Chiefs | Could be cautious with trio of players in camp

The Kansas City Chiefs expect TE Tony Moeaki (knee), SS Eric Berry (knee) and RB Jamaal Charles (knee) to be ready to play this season, but the team will be cautious. As a result, do not expect Moeaki, Berry and Charles to practice full go every day in training camp. The team will play it smart and have all three players ready for Week 1.

Bears | GM wants rookies to keep quiet, work

Chicago Bears general manager Phil Emery stressed the importance of silence and humility for rookies as they prepare for training camp. ‘(It’s) kind of like Brian Urlacher said: ‘Be quiet, be humble.’ Work. Work,’ Emery said. ‘Find a way to contribute to the team whether that’s on special teams, or as a role player as a pass rusher; whether that’s a role player or a first- and second-down player. Whatever that role is, being a great practice player, being a guy that busts everybody else’s but – work ethic, attitude – and showing us those skills that we drafted and that they contribute towards our goals in a positive way.’

Panthers | David Gettis injury update

Updating a previous item, Carolina Panthers general manager Marty Hurney said WR David Gettis (hamstring) tweaked a hamstring and that is why he was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list. The injury is in no way related to the torn anterior cruciate ligament injury that sidelined Gettis last season. The team simply is being cautious with what he termed a minor injury. Hurney said he expects Gettis to come off the PUP list soon after training camp begins.
