Patriots | Rob Gronkowski’s numbers down

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski’s season averages are down across the board so far in 2012. His receptions are down nearly a catch per game from last season and he’s gaining about 30 fewer yards each week. He is averaging 4.7 receptions and 52 yards per contest this season, as opposed to 5.6 receptions and 82.9 yards in 2011. TE Aaron Hernandez (ankle) being sidelined with an ankle injury, New England’s inconsistent pass protection and QB Tom Brady’s struggles with downfield throws have all contributed to Gronkowski’s slow start.

Seahawks | Golden Tate admits he pushed off

Seattle Seahawks WR Golden Tate acknowledged getting away with a penalty on the controversial final play of the team’s Week 3 victory over the Green Bay Packers; however, Tate said the suggestion that he was trying to cheat is unfounded. ‘The evidence shows on the film. But I never had intentions on cheating. I wasn’t trying to cheat. I was competing, it was in the moment,’ Tate said. ‘Things are happening so quick. I honestly didn’t even notice I did. I didn’t try to hurt him or push him down to the ground, but it happened. It was just a reaction kind of thing …’

Bills | Fred Jackson feels good after practice

Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson (knee) said he felt OK following practice Wednesday, Sept. 26, but is uncertain at this point if he will play in Week 4. ‘I felt OK about practice today. That was good,’ Jackson said. ‘I think what’s going to determine more than anything is how I’m feeling like the next day. If I can come out here and continue to work, that’ll help get me better. But if I wake up tomorrow and it’s swollen or too sore to do anything, then that’s going to set me back.’

Cowboys | Want more from Mackenzy Bernadeau

Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Bill Callahan acknowledged the team needs more from OG Mackenzy Bernadeau, who signed a four-year, $11 million deal to come to Dallas this offseason. Bernadeau could be replaced in the starting lineup by OG Derrick Dockery. ‘We want more from him,’ Callahan said. ‘I’ve made this point to him. I’m not trying to send a message through the media to him, but we’ve sat down very point blank, very frank, and just told him, ‘Hey, we need to get you better. We’re going to keep working to get you better.”
