One could argue the 5-3 New England Patriots are much better than their record, having lost all three games by a total of four points. Quarterback Tom Brady would beg to differ.

Texans | Ben Tate uncertain for Week 9
Houston Texans RB Ben Tate (hamstring) was not ready to return to practice Monday, Oct. 29, and he likely won’t be ready for a few more days, putting his Week 9 status in doubt. ‘My biggest level of concern with Tate is just keeping him on the field,’ head coach Gary Kubiak said. ‘It seems like it’s been one thing after another. If it’s not the toe, the hamstring. This has been going on for a few years. We need him.’
Our View: No official word on his playing status yet. We’ll see if Tate can get back on the practice field sometime this week. If he can’t play then we’ll see Justin Forsett as the primary backup behind Arian Foster.

Chargers | Unlikely to fire Norv Turner midseason
The San Diego Chargers are unlikely to fire head coach Norv Turner in the middle of this season despite a three-game losing streak in which they blew late leads in two of the games. There are no viable candidates on the current staff that could take over for Turner, especially since Turner is basically the offensive coordinator, too. Turner’s current contract runs through the 2013 season.

Seahawks | Braylon Edwards may miss another game
Seattle Seahawks WR Braylon Edwards (knee) is unlikely to return to practice until later this week, and his availability for Week 9 is in question. However, his knee swelling isn’t believed to be an issue that could cause him to miss the rest of the season. Edwards was expected to split duties with WR Golden Tate before he was scratched in Week 8. ‘The initial look at it is that he doesn’t have any damage to his knee,’ head coach Pete Carroll said. ‘He has a knee that’s worn on and so it responded for whatever reason to this trip or something, and we’ll see what that means.’

Seahawks | Doug Baldwin likely to play in Week 9
Seattle Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin (ankle) is unlikely to return for the team’s Week 9 contest against the Minnesota Vikings. ‘It’s going to be a longshot for him to make it back,’ head coach Pete Carroll said. ‘He’s trying. He did run last week. He ran at the end of the week. We’ll just see if he can tolerate it.’
