Tampa Bay Buccaneers coaches and scouts spent a lot of time watching and talking to defensive backs at the Senior Bowl. The Bucs focused on Oregon State DB Jordan Poyer and Washington DB Desmond Trufant. The Bucs spent time with Poyer, who is trying to impress Tampa Bay. ‘I’m really trying to put a lot of good film out there for them this week and let them know that I can play with the best of the best, so that if they decide to draft me they know they’re getting a really good player,” Poyer said.

NFL | Braxston Cave disappoints
Notre Dame C Braxston Cave didn’t play up to his 6-foot-3, 304-pound frame while auditioning at the Senior Bowl this week, as he was often driven backwards by rushers. He also failed to get movement during run blocks. His play this week likely positioned him to be selected on the third day of the draft.

NFL | Jordan Hill struggles at Senior Bowl
Penn State DT Jordan Hill, who is undersized for his position at 6-foot-1, 294 pounds, struggled this week at the Senior Bowl despite having an advantage with his quickness and athleticism. Hill failed to get free from blocks consistently and was often stopped in his tracks as a pass rusher. It might be a surprise if he is drafted before the fourth or fifth round.

NFL | Margus Hunt disappoints
Southern Methodist DE Margus Hunt was a big disappointment at the Senior Bowl this week and was a non-factor most of the time, although he displayed traits of a power defensive end with natural explosion. Hunt appeared robotic on the field and struggled to shed blockers while playing upright. It will be questionable if he can make it into the first round of the draft.

NFL | Robert Lester underwhelms
Alabama S Robert Lester didn’t show the athleticism needed to be effective in pass coverage during the Senior Bowl this week and was upright in his footwork and ‘stiff in the hips.’ He struggled when flipping his hips and changing direction and couldn’t stay with his man unless he played physical. Lester had a willingness to make hits, but he struggled with adjusting and in consistency. It would be a surprise to see him selected before the fifth round.

NFL | Xavier Nixon looks overmatched
Florida OT Xavier Nixon looked overmatched athletically at the Senior Bowl this week while playing offensive tackle. He struggled against speed rushers and lacked the feet and agility to adjust to fast pass rush moves. Nixon showed a lack of quickness but was more effective at guard this week. However, he struggled there, too, failing to bend his knees and block with leverage. He will not be a high draft pick.
