Browns | Norv Turner praises Brandon Weeden

Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Norv Turner said QB Brandon Weeden has some positive upside and can be a really good NFL player. “I saw a young guy that I think now and I thought then has a real positive upside and when I look at him on tape, I haven’t spent any time with him, but when I look at the tape I see a guy who can be a really good player,” Turner said. “I think a lot of playing quarterback has to do with the people you have around you and getting those guys playing at a high level. People may think it’s being unfair to Brandon to say ‘well they’re being cool about it.’ I think it’s being fair to him to say ‘hey we have a young guy that has some talent and we’re going to find out about him.’ We’re going to coach him and do everything we can to make him the best player he can be and let’s see where it goes. He’s going to have an opportunity to go compete, play and grow and I’m excited to be working with him.”

In my last NFL.com blog, I mentioned that Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, who has been selected to his 12th Pro Bowl […]

Giants | Owner would love to have Osi Umenyiora back

New York Giants owner John Mara said he would love to see soon-to-be unrestricted free agent Osi Umenyiora back with the Giants next season. ‘I don’t know about that,” Mara said when asked if Umenyiora had played his last game. “We’ll see what happens. I would love to have him back. He’s been a great player for us. He’s a great guy. He’s been a huge part of our two Super Bowl wins, but there are economic considerations and we’ll just have to see what happens. I mean, obviously, we’d love to have him back.’
