Rams | Givens added muscle

St. Louis Rams second-year WR Chris Givens has added muscle this offseason. He appears to be better prepared for the rigors of playing and playing a lot.

Our View: Givens is set to be one of the primary receivers for Sam Bradford this year. He could be the second leading receiver behind rookie Tavon Austin. Givens has good speed but needed bulk to be able to beat the jam at the line of scrimmage.

Bengals | Extension unlikely for Michael Johnson?

The Cincinnati Bengals and DL Michael Johnson have until July 15 to reach an agreement on a long-term contract or Johnson will play on the one-year franchise tag, worth $11.175 million. The Bengals have not signed a player to an extension in the season they have tagged him since former RB Rudi Johnson’s deal back in 2005.

Dolphins | Quiet confidence in Lamar Miller

According to the Miami Herald there is a ‘quiet confidence’ around Dolphins camp that second-year RB Lamar Miller will have a break out year in 2013. “He’s just so smooth,” Matt Moore said. “He’s different from Reggie Bush but can get similar results. His nature is go north and south, Reggie’s [style] was more to dance. And he has grabbed the leadership [reins].”

Our View: Miller wants to rush for over 1,500 yards in 2013 and he may get the workload to do just that. He’s a big play back who is capable of running in between the tackles. Miller has been running with the first team in the Dolphins recent OTAs.

Browns | Lots of passes being thrown to RBs

The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that a lot of passes are being thrown to the RBs in the team’s recent minicamp. Montario Hardesty and Dion Lewis are standing out as pass catchers this offseason.

Our View: Make a note here fantasy owners. Last year Trent Richardson caught 51 passes as a rookie and could be in for the same receiving workload in 2013.

Browns | WR Little embracing the new offense

Cleveland Browns WR Greg Little has been one of the more impressive players during minicamp according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The staff is reportedly quite impressed with the way he’s embraced the new offense and performed in downfield passing schemes.

Our View: Fantasy owners need to take note here. Little is known for his run after the catch ability but has now been impressing on downfield routes. We could see him take on a bigger role in the new Norv Turner offense. Last year Little finished as the 51st best WR in fantasy football. He could break into the top 45 (and maybe higher) in 2013.

Cowboys | Bryant more comfortable this offseason

Cowboys star WR Dez Bryant says he feels more comfortable with his life this offseason than at any other point in his career. Bryant said. “I’m comfortable with my life and I’m enjoying being in the NFL. Wish it could have been a couple of years back, but I had to go through a couple of things to figure it out. I got it, and I’m just more focused on my job and doing what I love to do, and that’s just play football.”

Our View: Great news for Bryant, Cowboys fans, and fantasy owners here. Bryant has the ability to finish as the top WR in fantasy football and being more comfortable will help him do that. Last season he finished as the 3rd best WR in fantasy football. This year his ADP is WR4 and he’s coming off the board at 2.07.

Broncos | Make or break year for Julius Thomas

This season could be a make or break year for Broncos third-year TE Julius Thomas. He’s a favorite of the coaching staff and is finally healthy after ankle surgery in 2012 slowed him down.

Our View: Thomas is a former basketball star from Portland State and has upside if he can stay healthy. He’s buried on the depth chart right now behind Jacob Tamme and Joel Dreesen. However, with his athletic ability he could be mixed in as yet another weapon for Broncos QB Peyton Manning. Scoop him up on the cheap in dynasty leagues if you can.
