San Francisco 49ers FS Craig Dahl said that when he was with the St. Louis Rams last year, they had a detailed scouting report on the San Fran offense that turned out to be quite successful. ‘We had a few tips off of film that we were able to differentiate between run and pass early,’ Dahl said. ‘It was a few different things. Some different personnel and alignment stuff really were the big keys, as far as our giveaways.’

Redskins | Kyle Shanahan defends zone-read plays
Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said the club doesn’t have to eliminate the option running elements in order to protect QB Robert Griffin III (knee). Echoing his father, head coach Mike Shanahan, Kyle Shanahan contended that the read-option plays safeguard Griffin by taking steam out of opposing pass-rushers. Griffin was hurt on improvisational runs and merely needs to work on picking his spots to slide or throw the ball away when facing QB pressure. The younger Shanahan said that they might have to adapt more as defenses plan better for the system.

Raiders | Latavius Murray sidelined
Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (foot) has been sidelined during team workouts due to a sore foot.
Our View: No word how severe this foot injury is but the team will be careful with the rookie as he deals with this. Murray has an upright running style, swift moves in the open field, and is tough to bring down when he builds a head of steam. With the injury history of starter Darren McFadden we should see Murray get some significant playing time in 2013. He’s competing with veteran Rashad Jennings to be the primary backup.

Redskins | Sign Devery Henderson
The Washington Redskins have signed free-agent WR Devery Henderson (Saints). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Our View: Henderson is a downfield target with the speed to get by the defense in the blink of an eye. His hands are inconsistent and he needs better concentration in order to play up to his potential. He’s veteran depth in the WR corps but his roster spot is not guaranteed.
