Chargers | Manti Te’o talks to the media

San Diego Chargers LB Manti Te’o has been largely shielded from the media since joining the team. He spoke with reporters Tuesday, June 11, saying he is in a perfect place and wants to be a three-down player. Te’o said nothing matters but what he does on the field and that his teammates only care that he is working hard. He also talked about the differences between college football and the NFL.

Our View: Te’o answered the tough questions about his ‘Catfish’ problem at the scouting combine. If he is a good pro then the fake girlfriend thing will only be an afterthought. Te’o had seven interceptions last year but questions abound about his ability to cover at the pro level.

Jets | Mark Sanchez works exclusively with first-team offense

New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez worked exclusively with the first-team offense in practice Tuesday, June 11. He completed four of his eight pass attempts, missing the final four, and took a sack in seven-on-seven drills. Jets rookie QB Geno Smith went 4-for-7 and was sacked three times while working with the second-string offense.

Our View: Sanchez wants to get his swagger back and win the starting job in training camp. Both he and Smith have been struggling this offseason and this battle may last well into August. Even if Sanchez wins the starting job to begin the year the presence of Smith may mean a short hook for the veteran.
