Lions | Patrick Edwards looking like No. 4 WR

Detroit Lions WR Patrick Edwards appeared to be the No. 4 wide receiver during offseason workouts and also saw some time with the first-team offense during some of the practices.

Our View: Edwards is an interesting prospect to keep an eye on in deep dynasty leagues. He was a TD scoring machine (20 TD receptions in 2011) at the University of Houston but fell undrafted in 2012. Edwards might have been activated to the active roster last year but suffered a torn quad and spent his rookie year on the practice squad. He’s small (5’9″ 175) but has big play potential because of his speed and run after the catch ability.

Lions | Joique Bell expected to have role on special teams

Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell is expected to have a role on all four special teams units this season and could be a candidate for the kick returner job.

Our View: Bell is a big back but gets to top speed in a hurry and is difficult to bring down once he builds a head of steam. He may win the backup RB job behind starter Reggie Bush. He’ll compete in training camp with Mikel Leshoure for that spot.

NFL | Five teams in the mix for Vonta Leach

Up to five teams are still in the running for free agent FB Vonta Leach, including the Houston Texans, the Miami Dolphins, the New York Giants, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens. ‘Nobody has been excluded,’ agent Ralph Vitolo said. ‘You have to put Miami, Houston and the Giants in the first three.

Our View: Leach has been in no rush to find a new home, but will likely be on a roster by the start of training camp. Reports have the Dolphins as the favorite to land the veteran Fullback.

Seahawks | Michael Bennett showing versatility

Seattle Seahawks DL Michael Bennett has made an effort to be the most versatile player he can be, learning to play both defensive end and defensive tackle. ‘That’s always the type of player I’ve tried to be,’ Bennett said of his versatility. ‘My first position was learning how to play inside; I know how to play outside. They do a good job making sure I know every position and just go out and play as hard as I can.’
