Lions | Chris Houston excited about CB competition

Detroit Lions CB Chris Houston said he is looking forward watching the competition for the other starting cornerback during training camp. Houston said the competition likely will come down to who performs well during preseason games. ‘A person can always practice good, but we really don’t know until the games,’ Houston said. ‘I can’t wait for those guys to go up against good receivers from other teams and see how they match up.’

Chiefs | Tyler Bray could be practice squad option

The Kansas City Chiefs could look to sign QB Tyler Bray to their practice squad if he does not beat QB Ricky Stanzi for the No. 3 quarterback job.

Our View: It’s not a good sign for his pro prospects if he can’t beat out Stanzi for the QB3 job behind Alex Smith and Chase Daniel. Bray has a rocket arm but maturity and attitude issues caused him to fall undrafted this year. We’ll see if he can put those problems behind him and start developing now that he’s a pro.

Vikings | Desmond Bishop agrees to terms

The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms with free-agent LB Desmond Bishop (Packers). Bishop agreed to a one-year deal worth around $1.5 million. The deal could be worth as much as $2 million based in incentives.

Our View: Bishop will compete for jobs at middle linebacker and weakside linebacker this season. It’s a strong move for the Vikings if Bishop’s hamstring injury is cleared up. He missed all of last season due to a severe hamstring injury but still has the ability to be one of the best inside linebackers in the game today. Bishop is smart, finds the ball quickly, and is known as a sound tackler.
