Eagles | LeSean McCoy does not have preference in QB race

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy said it does not matter whether QB Michael Vick or QB Nick Foles win the starting quarterback job as long as he keeps getting his carries. ‘That’s why they pay [head coach Chip Kelly] the big bucks to pick the quarterback. [Vick and Foles] both look good and whoever he picks, I am fine with. As long as I get my carries, I don’t care who it is,’ McCoy said.

Our View: The offense is going to have a different look depending on which QB wins the starting job. If Vick wins the job then we’ll see an offense similar to what Kelly ran at Oregon featuring inside zone read and a moving pocket. If Foles wins the job then we’ll see multiple TE sets and a more traditional pocket passing offense. We’d like to see McCoy in that inside zone read offense.

Jets | Geno Smith thinks he has made progress

New York Jets QB Geno Smith said he believes he has made good progress in his development since he joined the team. ‘I’ve already made a giant leap,’ Smith said. ‘Coming from a spread system where the biggest transition for me is going to be the footwork. It’s not as if I can’t do it, it’s the fact that I haven’t done it enough. The good amount of reps that I got in rookie camp, minicamp, OTAs has helped me make that leap and transition, and make giant strides.’

Our View: Smith is competing with veteran Mark Sanchez for the starting job. Both have been struggling this offseason but Sanchez may have a leg up in the competition because of his experience. Even if Smith doesn’t win the job in training camp we wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the starting lineup at some point during the regular season.

NFL | Vonta Leach not in a rush to sign

Free-agent FB Vonta Leach (Ravens) said during a radio interview that he is not in a hurry to sign with a team because teams will not start practicing until next month.

Our View: Leach is still a quality Fullback who can blast open holes for any ground game he’s added to. Teams like the Texans, Dolphins, Giants, and Ravens have shown interest in the veteran. We could see Leach added to a roster when we get closer to training camp.

Giants | Brandon Collins suspended

The NFL has suspended New York Giants WR Brandon Collins has been suspended for the first four games of the regular season for violating the league’s drug policy.

Our View: Collins spent last season on the Giants’ practice squad. This suspension won’t help his chances of making the final 53-man roster for the Giants this season.
