Dolphins | RG battle hasn’t materialized

Miami Dolphins OGs John Jerry and Lance Louis (knee) are expected to battle for the starting right guard job in training camp and the preseason, but there is no competition as long as Louis (knee) is sidelined. He is still recovering from a serious knee injury suffered in November while with the Chicago Bears.

Dolphins | Mike Wallace expects to work in slot some

The Miami Dolphins plan to use WR Mike Wallace in more ways than his previous team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, did. ‘I will be inside a little more,’ Wallace said Wednesday, July 24. Offensive coordinator Mike Sherman ‘wants to switch us around a lot more where people can’t key on you.’ Through four days of camp, most of his receptions have come on out patterns and slants.

Titans | Jake Locker under spotlight

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (shoulder) enters his third season as a pro, and the spotlight will be bright on him. He completed just 56.4 percent of his passes last season while throwing only 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 11 games. However, despite having shoulder surgery in January, Locker appears more prepared for this season than previous ones. ‘It is his team now and he knows it,’ OT Michael Roos said.

Footballguys View: Locker needs to prove he can be the franchise QB the team envisioned when they selected him in the first-round of the 2011 NFL draft. They added weapons around him this year and upgraded the interior O-Line to help protect him better. It’s essentially a make or break year for Locker in 2013.
