Bills | Kyle Williams expected to practice

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills DT Kyle Williams (Achilles’) is set to practice after having a procedure to take care of a bone spur on his heel near the Achilles’ tendon. He had the same procedure done on his left Achilles’ last season. General manager Doug Whaley feels Williams is ready. ‘As of now he’s full go,’ Whaley said Friday in a radio interview. ‘I think they’re going to limit him in practice and ease him into it and not put too much on him right off the bat, but he is not going to be on PUP.’

Lions | Nick Fairley slims down

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz has been impressive by the weight loss of DT Nick Fairley during the offseason. ‘He’s really impressive from where he left here at the end of minicamp to his report. You know people make TV shows about Extreme Makeover and stuff like that and I like where he is right now. He’s worked very hard in five weeks or six weeks – whatever it was where he was gone and reported in good shape,’ Schwartz said Friday, July 26. ‘His weight was done and he just needs to stay on that track.’

Chiefs | Knile Davis working on returns

Kansas City Chiefs RB Knile Davis never returned a kick in a game during his time at the University of Arkansas, but the team is hoping he can be turned into a kickoff return specialist during training camp and the preseason. Davis dropped a kickoff in practice Friday, July 26, and he was known as a fumbled in college. ‘We’ll get that fixed,’ head coach Andy Reid said.

Chiefs | Dexter McCluster to finally take off?

When Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was with the Philadelphia Eagles, he was intrigued by WR Dexter McCluster during the 2010 NFL Draft. When Reid was hired in January, he immediately began making plans for McCluster. ‘He gives you a little flexibility,’ Reid said. ‘You can move him around a little. We’ll use him here or there. I don’t know where he couldn’t line up, to be honest, as far as skill positions go. He’s got that many tools in the belt.’
