Texans | Ed Reed update

Updating previous items, Houston Texans S Ed Reed (hip) will know by the end of this week whether he will play in the team’s season opener. Coach Gary Kubiak said Monday, Aug. 26, that Reed is in Vail, Colo., visiting the surgeon who performed his April hip surgery to repair a partially-torn labrum. He will receive injections in his hip during the visit and then travel Atlanta later this week to continue his rehabilitation.

Broncos | RB situation up in air

Denver Broncos coach John Fox told reporters he had not lost faith in RB Ronnie Hillman despite his tendency to cough up the ball. Hillman had two fumbles returned for touchdowns in preseason games. Still, RB Montee Ball took more snaps with the No. 1 squad Monday, Aug. 26, and Fox cautioned not to read anything. ‘It’s just practice,’ Fox said. ‘I wouldn’t read too much into anything. We’re evaluating everybody regardless of who gets what reps at what numbers. He’s a guy that we want to get touches and we’ll go from there.’

Steelers | Jarvis Jones uncertain for finale

Updating previous items, Pittsburgh Steelers LB Jarvis Jones (chest) says it’s too early to tell if he’ll be available to play in the preseason finale against Carolina. While Jones is listed second on the depth chart at outside linebacker behind Jason Worilds, Jones has played extensively during the preseason and been involved in a turnover in each of Pittsburgh’s three games.
