Redskins | Kirk Cousins vows to be ready for opener

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins (foot) said Monday, Aug. 26, that there is ‘no doubt at all’ that he will be ready for the regular season opener Sept. 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was able to practice Monday, but said he isn’t quite 100 percent when it comes to rolling out or quick changes of direction. Cousins has been getting three or four treatments per day.

Green Bay Packers FS Morgan Burnett (hamstring), CB Jarrett Bush (ankle), WR Kevin Dorsey (toe), CB Casey Hayward (hamstring), LB Brad Jones (hamstring), CB James Nixon (ankle, knee), LB Jarvis Reed (ankle), SS Sean Richardson (neck) and OL Derek Sherrod (leg) were unable to practice Monday, Aug. 26.

Jets | Kenrick Ellis in danger of losing job

New York Jets NT Kenrick Ellis (back) is nursing a bad back, and NT Damon Harrison has shined in the absence of Ellis during training camp and the preseason. Nothing is official yet, but head coach Rex Ryan praised the play of Harrison Monday, Aug. 26, in a press conference, and the veteran Ellis could be on the verge of a backup role if he doesn’t return soon.
