Saints | Acquire Parys Haralson

The New Orleans Saints acquired LB Parys Haralson (49ers) through trade Monday, Aug. 26. It was not clear what San Francisco got in return.

Footballguys View: The Saints needed all the help they could get at the linebacker position. They’ve already lost LB Will Smith, DE Kenyon Coleman, and LB Victor Butler for the season. Haralson didn’t play last year due to a triceps tear and is not a huge threat as a pass rusher.

49ers | Colt McCoy won’t be traded or released

San Francisco 49ers QB Colt McCoy will not be traded or released, according to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Footballguys View: McCoy was reportedly on the trading block this weekend but ended up restructuring his deal. He’ll stick around as the backup QB behind Colin Kaepernick. Rookie B.J. Daniels will be the third-string guy.

49ers | Austin Collie could be cut

San Francisco 49ers WR Austin Collie may not be in the team’s plans, according to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle. Branch points out that head coach Jim Harbaugh indicated during training camp that Collie had not fully recovered from a ruptured patella tendon he suffered in 2012.

Footballguys View: Some felt Collie would not be fully healthy until about October but the 49ers signed him anyway. Collie may draw some interest on the open market if he’s cut but he’ll have to prove that he’s healthy.
