Chiefs | Fourteen players cut

Kansas City Chiefs backup QB Ricky Stanzi and FB Braden Wilson were among 14 players cut by the team Sunday, Aug. 25. Wilson was the team’s sixth-round draft pick just this year, while Stanzi had a following in Kansas City despite limited play. Also cut were WR Terrance Copper, DB Neiko Thorpe, CB’s Vincent Agnew, Otha Foster III, and Kamaal McIlwain; OL Ryan Durand, A.J. Hawkins and Hutch Eckerson; DE’s Miguel Chavis and Rob Lohr; RB Jordan Roberts; and WR Tyler Shoemaker.

Packers | Kicking situation up in air

Green Bay Packers K’s Mason Crosby, Giorgio Tavecchio and Zach Ramirez all attempted kicks Sunday, Aug. 25 during practice. Crosby went 10 for 11, missing wide left from 53 yards. Tavecchio went 9 for 11, missing wide right from 45 and wide left from 63. Ramirez went 10 for 11, with his miss coming from 45 yards. The situation of who will kick for the Packers remains fluid. ‘There’s a job available and someone needs to jump through the door and take it. That hasn’t happened yet,’ Packers coach Mike McCarthy said.

Broncos | Two receivers cut

Denver Broncos WR’s Greg Orton and Quincy McDuffie were waived/injured Sunday, Aug. 25, as the Broncos got a jump start on the first round of cuts by waiving 11 players. Orton spent the past two seasons on Denver’s practice squad. He had a shot at making the roster when he sprained an ankle during the team’s stadium scrimmage on Aug. 3 and never returned to action. McDuffie hoped to challenge for a spot as a returner, but he was hampered by a troublesome hamstring.

Colts | Anthony Castonzo to sit out preseason finale

Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano said OT Anthony Castonzo (knee) will not play in the preseason finale after an MRI confirmed Castonzo has a mild sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee. Castonzo was injured on the opening series of a 27-6 victory over the Cleveland Browns and did not return. OG Mike McGlynn (knee) also did not play after bruising his knee during practice last week. Castonzo is listed as day-to-day, and Pagano said he hopes both would be ready for the Sept. 8 opener against the Oakland Raiders.

NFL | Keith Bulluck charged with felony robbery

Former Tennessee Titans LB Keith Bulluck has been charged with felony robbery after a cab driver accused him of taking money during an argument. The driver was waiting outside a bar for a paid fare Sunday, Aug. 25, when Bulluck approached him asking for a ride, police said in a statement. The driver said he declined and Bulluck grabbed him by his shirt, took a $100 bill and fled.
