Footballguys View: The team may try to trade Winfield but may not find any takers. The Broncos, Vikings, and Redskins could have interest in Winfield if/when he’s released. The Seahawks will go with Walter Thurmond III and Jeremy Lane behind starters Brandon Browner and Richard Sherman.

The Carolina Panthers have released QB Jimmy Clausen, CB Drayton Florence, TE Zach Pianalto, WR James Shaw, WR Brenton Bersin, OG Hayworth Hicks, DT Sione Fua and LB Douglas Hogue.

Footballguys View: Clausen hasn’t seen the field since his disastrous rookie season (2010). He didn’t prove to be much more than a third-string caliber QB. He may not find may suitors now that he’s on the open market.
