Buccaneers | Josh Freeman admits trade best option

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman admitted that the best option for him is probably to be traded to another team, in an interview with ESPN’s Josina Anderson. ‘You know, I don’t for a number of reasons,’ Freeman said. ‘But the bottom line is, if you want things to change, something has got to change. At the end of the day, yes, I think that moving forward, that might be, that is going to be probably the best option.’ The Buccaneers have yet to be contacted by other teams interested in trading for Freeman. He completed less than 50 percent of his passes in the first three weeks and had two touchdowns and three interceptions.

Footballguys View: Freeman isn’t going anywhere this year. He might not even be signed as a starter next year. He is only 25, so we are far from the last chapter in his story, but the precedent for young quarterbacks benched before their rookie contract is up isn’t great.

Vikings | Christian Ponder has fractured rib

Minnesota Vikings QB Christian Ponder (rib) is dealing with a fractured rib and will sit out Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was injured on the second hit of the game in Week 3 and said he was feeling pain Monday, Sept. 23. The bone is broken near his heart, which is the reason why the team decided to keep him out this weekend. Minnesota has a bye in Week 5, so he’ll have an extra week to heal.

Cardinals | Rashad Johnson hoping to play

Arizona Cardinals FS Rashad Johnson (finger) is expected to play in Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Johnson lost the top of his left middle finger in Week 3 during a tackle. Doctors shaved down the bone and stitched together the skin over his finger after the game. Johnson practiced without pads Thursday, Sept. 26, and he hopes to return to full practice Friday, Sept. 27.

Colts | Ahmad Bradshaw sitting

Indianapolis Colts RB Ahmad Bradshaw (neck) was not seen during the media’s portion of practice Friday, Sept. 27.

Footballguys View: Bradshaw is known for playing and playing well coming off of weeks with no practice, but that was the Giants organization. Trent Richardson owners could have a jackpot week coming against the Jaguars if Bradshaw sits.
