Cowboys | Brian Waters hoping to start

Dallas Cowboys OG Brian Waters thinks he’s ready to start in Week 4 against the San Diego Chargers. Waters has alternated with OG Mackenzy Bernadeau through the first three weeks of the season at right guard. ‘That’s the goal, to try to make it through the whole game,’ said Waters, who has been working with the first team this week in practice. ‘We’ll see how it goes. Mack (Bernadeau) will be ready to go. I think we’re all confident he’ll be ready to go if anything happens.’ Waters is 36 years of age and came out of retirement to play this season.

Ponder’s time as starter winding down?

Cassel closer to starting?: Lezlie Frazier recently said he hopes Christian Ponder plays on Sunday against the Steelers, but I don’t know how broken up the coaching staff would be if they were forced to go with Matt Cassel. Ponder has more INTs (5) this year than TD passes (2), and he has yet to crack 240 passing yards in a game. In other words, he’s been operating at about a C- level all year long.  If Ponder plays well in London, he’ll be given a moratorium. If not, Cassel will likely start after the bye.
