Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said he hopes the team will be able to re-sign impending free-agent DT Jason Hatcher before next offseason. ‘I would have hope we have Hatcher in the future because he is playing at a high level,’ Jones said. ‘We have always thought he had excellent size, excellent athletic ability and real skill at rushing the passer. That’s hard to find that in a player. He’s got it and it’s showing up.’

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (back, forearm) said he is improving but is not sure when he will be able to play in a game. He said an important part of his rehab is regaining the strength he lost while not being able to work out. He said he is taking things day-to-day at this point.
Footballguys View: Great news for the Patriots here. We are getting closer to the return of Gronkowski and he may be back on the field this week. There’s no way of truly knowing as the Patriots are as clandestine as they possibly can be. Monitor his practice status as the week goes on.
