49ers | No timetable for Michael Crabtree
San Francisco 49ers WR Michael Crabtree (Achilles’) continues to make progress in his rehab from a torn Achilles’, but there still is no firm timetable on when he’ll be able to return to the team. ‘If we can get him back this year,’ offensive coordinator Greg Roman added, ‘that’d be gravy.’ Crabtree could return this year. He’s currently trying to regain strength in his lower body.

Panthers | Jon Beason may not regain job
Carolina Panthers LB Jon Beason, who played in only one snap in the team’s Week 3 victory, may not regain his starting job as the weakside linebacker over LB Chase Blackburn. ‘We’ll have to see. We’ve got two days of practice this week and then a whole week to get ready for Arizona,’ head coach Ron Rivera. ‘Again, as we go through this, we’re going to put the people on the field that give us the best opportunity to win football games.’ Beason has played in only seven games since tearing his Achilles’ in 2011. Blackburn played 17 snaps against the New York Giants and received praise from the coaching staff. In Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills, Beason allowed five passes to be completed for a combined 112 yards.
