Cowboys | Anthony Spencer will be ready next year

Updating a previous item, Dallas Cowboys DE Anthony Spencer (knee) is expected to be fully healthy by January or February of next year, according to Dr. Dan Cooper. It’s unknown if Spencer is having microfracture surgery, but his season will be over. ‘I have, like, soft cartilage on the inner side of my knee that’s causing (the pain),’ said Spencer, who will be a free agent after this season. ‘It’s not stopping the banging of the bone. It’s going to take a little bit more time to heal, and we really don’t have time right now.’

Rams | Daryl Richardson expects to play

St. Louis Rams RB Daryl Richardson (foot) practiced on a limited basis Monday, Sept. 23, and he expects to play in Week 4 versus the San Francisco 49ers Thursday, Sept. 26. He leads the team with 30 carries and 98 yards in three weeks despite playing just two snaps in Week 3 before aggravating his injury.

Footballguys View: Richardson is the lead back if he plays on Thursday against the 49ers. He’s the most explosive back on the roster and can change direction without losing much speed. Some are painting the picture of Isaiah Pead being some sort of answer at the RB position but that may not be the case. Pead really didn’t get involved in Week 3 until the game was well out of hand. We saw Benny Cunningham get on the field before Pead did. If Richardson plays he’s a low end flex play on Thursday night.

Titans | Like what they have in Justin Hunter

The Tennessee Titans liked what they saw from rookie WR Justin Hunter in the team’s Week 3 win over the San Diego Chargers in which Hunter caught a late-game touchdown. ‘One of the reasons we drafted him is we think he can be a special deep ball threat. He has a great combination of size and speed and he can jump. That was a perfect example of that situation,’ QB Jake Locker said of Hunter. ‘He was able to run down, track that football down and then when it comes to a jump ball, we feel confident he is going to come down with it 100 percent of the time, because that’s his strength. That plays right into his abilities.’
