Cowboys | Jason Garrett behind staff changes

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett was given the go-ahead to make his own changes to the coaching stay and they were not based on order from owner Jerry Jones, according to both Jones and his son, Stephen Jones. ‘Absolutely, we gave Jason that authority when the season ended,’ said Stephen Jones. ‘This was another disappointing ending and you just have let your head coach have that latitude. It’s not always going to be pretty, it’s going to hurt some feelings but you have to let Jason evaluate his staff and do what he believe is right. That’s what we did.’

Dolphins | Jonathan Martin used vulgar language in texts

The attorney for Miami Dolphins OG Richie Incognito said OT Jonathan Martin used texts that were just as vulgar as the language Incognito used against Martin. Martin allegedly sent texts to Incognito which ‘included threats to send someone over to Richie Incognito’s home with a ‘tranquilizer gun and sandpaper condoms’ to homosexually rape him’ and ‘another that said he would ‘kill (Richie’s) whole family.’ The attorney is also claiming that Martin didn’t raise concerns to the team about his bullying until his performance on the field slipped to the point where his roster spot would be in jeopardy.

NFL | Brendan Ayanbadejo says players smoked pot before big game

Former Baltimore Ravens and Chicago Bears LB Brendon Ayanbadejo said his teammates smoked marijuana before one of his two Super Bowl appearances, but he did not identify any players. He also didn’t say which year the incident took place. ‘I’m not going to say which Super Bowl it was, but I just remember getting off the elevator one night — it was early on in the (Super Bowl) week, just to start the week off — and all of the sudden I just got hit over the head with fumes of marijuana on the entire floor of the hotel that the team was staying on. … I could just imagine there were a few young guys just toking it up in more than one room.’
