Patriots | Interested in Larry Fitzgerald?

The New England Patriots were interested in trading for Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald last offseason, according to a trusted source of CSNNE.com’s Tom E. Curran.

Footballguys View: The Patriots sure could have used a receiver like Fitzgerald this year. Once Rob Gronkowski was lost for the season, the Patriots didn’t have any weapons in the passing game who could stretch the field. Danny Amendola failed to adequately replace Wes Welker this year, and he could barely stay healthy enough to play. Julian Edelman was a favorite target for Tom Brady, but he’s best at working underneath routes. We’ll see if the Patriots attempt to make a big splash in free agency this year.

Broncos | Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie would accept long-term deal

Denver Broncos CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie said he wouldn’t turn down a long-term deal if it was offered to him this offseason.

Footballguys View: Now the truth comes out. Broncos country was up in arms when the news about Rodgers-Cromartie thinking about retirement came out. There’s going to be about $10 million reasons annually in the next contract he gets. According to our very own Cecil Lammey, the Broncos feel re-signing Rodgers-Cromartie is a top three priority this offseason. Restructuring Champ Bailey and giving Eric Decker a new long-term deal rank up there as well.

Bears | Could go for pass rush help in draft

The Chicago Bears could be forced to use another high draft pick on a defensive end because of the frustrating play of DE Shea McClellin, who will count $2,253,654 against the salary cap in 2014.

Footballguys View: The Bears defense needs to drastically improve in 2014. Adding an impact pass-rusher could really help. Sitting at 14th overall in the first round, the Bears could see a guy like OLB Anthony Barr (UCLA) or DE Kony Ealy (Missouri) on the board at that time.
