Vikings | Adrian Peterson on board with Norv Turner hiring

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is happy with the hiring of offensive coordinator Norv Turner and called him ‘the perfect guy to lead us and get us on the right path.’ The Vikings were ranked 23rd in the league in passing offense last year, and they were ranked 31st in the league in 2012. ‘I’ll tell you, our pass offense has really struggled in the past couple years,’ Peterson told USA Today Sports. ‘I think (Turner) is going to be the perfect guy to come in and get us on the right path.’

Footballguys View: Peterson should be happy with Turner, the guy knows how to craft an offense built around a world-class running back. He’s had great success with legends like Emmitt Smith (Cowboys) and LaDainian Tomlinson (Chargers), but Turner struggled when working with Trent Richardson (Browns).

Ravens | Gary Kubiak feeling great

Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak said he feels fine after suffering from a “mini stroke” last November. ‘I feel great,’ Kubiak said. ‘I’ve been working out, [I’m] looking forward to getting up very early in the morning and going to work again. My wife is tired of me being around the house.’

Patriots | Franchise tag unlikely for Julian Edelman

It is unlikely that the New England Patriots will use the franchise tag on WR Julian Edelman this off season, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston, in part because of how much it would cost to use it.

Footballguys View: Edelman had a breakout year in 2013, and he was much more productive than Danny Amendola. The team will work diligently to bring Edelman back with a new contract, but using the franchise tag is not an option.

Broncos | John Elway expects Peyton Manning to keep playing

Denver Broncos president John Elway said he expects QB Peyton Manning to return for at least another season even if the team wins Super Bowl XLVIII against the Seattle Seahawks. ‘I’m sure hopeful he’s not going to,’ Elway said. ‘I’d be very, very surprised if he walked away. I think he wants to walk away with every record that was ever put in the record books as far as offensive football or quarterbacking. So I think he’s got a lot of football left in him.’

Footballguys View: So long as he passes his physical (like every other player) then Manning should continue playing. He had the best season of his career in 2013, and the coaching staff is staying intact for 2014. Manning may not throw for 55 touchdowns in 2014, but 35 or more is likely.
