San Francisco 49ers rookie FS Eric Reid is going to the Pro Bowl as a replacement for Seattle Seahawks SS Kam Chancellor, who is Super Bowl-bound thanks to a 23-17 NFC-title win over the 49ers. “Would much rather be headed to New York but Hawaii isn’t bad. #ProBowl!!” Reid tweeted Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Washington Redskins LB Brian Orakpo is going to the Pro Bowl as a replacement for San Francisco 49ers LB Ahmad Brooks. Orakpo had 10 sacks, his most since getting 11 as a rookie, and the first interception of his career. It is Orakpo’s third Pro Bowl selection. He also was chosen for the NFL all-star games after the 2009 and 2010 seasons, his first two years in the league.

NFL | B.J. Askew charged with failure to pay child support
Former NFL fullback B.J. Askew has been charged in Michigan with failing to pay about $268,000 in child support. The Michigan attorney general’s office says Askew was arrested in Hillsborough County, Fla., on Jan. 7. He’ll be extradited to Detroit to face the charge. Askew, 33, played at Michigan and was drafted by the New York Jets in 2003. He signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2007, but his career was cut short by injuries from a car accident in 2009.
