Chargers | Dwight Freeney wants to retire on his terms

San Diego Chargers LB Dwight Freeney said he wants to be able to retire on his own terms and not coming off an injury-plagued season. ‘I just want to make sure that I end it the right way,’ Freeney said. ‘That means that I’m not fighting an injury and limping off the field – making sure that I don’t have a bad taste in my mouth.’ Freeney suffered a season-ending leg injury in Week 4 but is under contract for next season.

Footballguys View: Every player wants to go out on his own terms, but few get to. Most suddenly find themselves out of a job and unable to get another one. Hopefully Freeney doesn’t overstay his welcome and can leave before that happens.

Jets | Former teammates think Mark Sanchez will not be back

Former New York Jets FB Tony Richardson and LB Bart Scott are among the former players that believe QB Mark Sanchez will not be with the Jets next season. ‘For Mark and the organization, it’s time for a fresh start. He deserves a fresh start. It would be hard to put people in the stands if you go back to the table with Mark,’ Richardson said.
