NFL | Cornelius Lucas sidelined with stress fracture

Kansas State OT Cornelius Lucas (foot) will be sidelined six to eight weeks due to a stress fracture in his left foot. He suffered the injury during training leading up to the NFL Scouting Combine, but it was just discovered this week in Indianapolis. It’s uncertain if Lucas will be able to work out for teams before May. He is the tallest player at the combine, measuring 6-foot-8 and 316 pounds with 10-inch hands and the longest arms at 36-3/4 inches. He is considered a mid-to-late round draft choice, but the injury might force him to be an undrafted free agent.

Titans | GM praises Michael Sam

Tennessee Titans general manager Ruston Webster said Saturday, Feb. 22, that Missouri DE Michael Sam could be an effective outside pass rusher. ‘He has some strength at the point. But his main thing is getting up the field and rushing the passer and putting pressure on the quarterback,’ Webster said. ‘He was obviously very productive.’

NFL | Cyrus Kouandjio not great in drills

Alabama OT Cyrus Kouandjio did not look particularly athletic during drills at the NFL Scouting Combine Saturday, Feb. 22, and he managed just 21 reps of 225 pounds in the bench press. However, scouts aren’t expected to be worry about this nearly as much given the strength and aggression with which he plays and his incredibly long arms, which measured at 35-5/8 inches. He was also last among all linemen tested with a 5.59 seconds time in the 40-yard dash.
