Chiefs | Reach out to DeSean Jackson

The Kansas City Chiefs have reached out to representatives for free-agent WR DeSean Jackson (Eagles).

Footballguys View: This move was anticipated by many because of the connection between Jackson and former Eagles coach (and current Chiefs coach) Andy Reid. They certainly could use a weapon like Jackson to start opposite Dwayne Bowe.

Cardinals | Bruce Arians elaborates on Andre Ellington’s role

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians expanded on how the team plans to use RB Andre Ellington this year at the owners meetings this week. “He is still not a guy who you will pound up the middle 30 times a game and survive,” Arians said. “He can run the football 30 times a game if you do it correctly, but you’d rather have him have 10 catches and 20 carries and let Stepfan Taylor or (Jonathan) Dwyer have the rest of the carries pound the rest of the ball up in there.”

Falcons | Mike Smith believes in Steven Jackson

Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith is optimistic that RB Steven Jackson will bounce back from a disappointing 2013 season in which he played in only 12 games due to a hamstring injury and averaged a career-low 3.5 yards per carry. Jackson finished the year with six touchdowns in the final six games, however. Atlanta uses a committee at running back with Jackson and RBs Jacquizz Rodgers and Antone Smith.
