Bears | Brandon Marshall not worried about contract

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall said he is not concerned that he is entering the final year of his contract because, he expects a deal to happen at some point. ‘I have another year left on my contract. If it happens, it happens, if it doesn’t, I’m glad to be a Bear for another year and I’m going to force them to sign me after next year,’ Marshall said. ‘One way or another, they’re going to get the deal done. But if it comes down to next year, I’ll be picketing outside of Halas Hall for a new deal, a new contract, because I’m not going anyplace.’

Johnny Manziel, Mike Evans both put on a show

There isn’t much more that I can say about Johnny Manziel after his pro day Thursday, except that the workout left me even more convinced that he’s a very talented quarterback who has a chance to be a very good player in the NFL. The fact that he worked out in a helmet and pads was unusual because it’s much harder to do it that way; as far as difficulty, Manziel’s throwing session wasn’t on the same plane as the other quarterbacks. For him to take that risk, I thought, further showed what a great competitor he is and how much he wants to show that he can be the best. Manziel threw several of his passes to Mike Evans, who made […]

McGill University OL attracts nine NFL teams to Canada

Nine teams were present for the pro day event Wednesday at McGill University in Canada: the Jets, Eagles, Raiders, Chiefs, Packers, Bengals, Cardinals, 49ers and Bills. The player they came to see was an offensive lineman named Laurent Duvernay-Tardif. Duvernay-Tardif measured 6-foot-5, 298 pounds, which was 23 pounds less than his weight at the East-West Shrine Game. He’s a medical student, and he said he thought he lost the weight because he was so busy studying for his classes. At his pro day, Duvernay-Tardif ran the 40 in 4.94 and 5.08 seconds. He had a 31 1/2-inch vertical and a 9-6 broad jump. He ran the three-cone drill in 7.30 seconds and had 33 bench-press reps. Duvernay-Tardif was not at the combine, […]

Mike Davis, Jackson Jeffcoat work for 32 teams at Texas pro day

Representatives from all 32 teams, including the offensive line coaches from the Eagles and the Bengals, were at Texas’ pro day Wednesday to watch 10 players work out. This was the first time in 16 years that I was not present at Texas pro day. The sprints were run on a very fast Tartan track, and the position drills were held on FieldTurf at another indoor facility a couple of blocks away. Mike Davis, WR: Davis (6-foot, 189 pounds), who was at the combine, ran the 40 in 4.51 and 4.53 seconds. He had a 32 1/2-inch vertical and a 9-9 broad jump. He ran the short shuttle in 4.42 and the three-cone drill in 7.06. He did not lift. Davis […]

Cowboys | Will decide on position for Tyrone Crawford soon

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said the team likely will decide soon on whether they will use DT Tyrone Crawford at defensive end or defensive tackle next season. ‘He has really good versatility. We are going to look at the landscape of our defensive line and see where he fits in. We really think he can play all four spots. We will use him in a couple of different spots certainly. We want to get him into a role, into a position where he is most comfortable and get his body right,’ Garrett said.
