Cowboys | Henry Melton injury update

Dallas Cowboys DT Henry Melton (knee) is going through the process and should be ready by the start of training camp. ‘Like all of the injured players he’s just going through his rehab process, right now,’ Garrett said. ‘He had the surgery, I believe in October. We feel like it’s a reasonable timetable to see him at some point this spring or training camp. He’s responded well to the surgery.’

Cowboys | Tony Romo may not be ready for OTAs

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) may not be ready to throw during organized team activities, even though head coach Jason Garrett is optimistic. ‘We feel like he’s right on schedule and hopefully will be ready to go once we get out on the field in the spring,’ Garrett said Wednesday morning at the NFL owners meetings. ‘He’s moving around. He hasn’t been out on the field or anything like that yet. By all accounts he’s doing well.’

Dolphins | Will look to compete more deep passes

Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said completing deep passes will be one of the team’s focal points moving forward, because Ryan Tannehill completed only six of his 36 passes to WR Mike Wallace that traveled 20 yards or more. ‘Some of it’s timing between the guys. Some is ball location. Some is the receiver being in the exact right spot. We’ve got to increase our explosive plays. We’ve got to score more points. We just have to. [Deep balls are] a part of it. It’s not the only part. We’ve sliced up those routes and studied why and how. We definitely addressed that.’
