Indianapolis Colts DT Josh Chapman could play nose tackle in 2014. Chapman got praise from head coach Chuck Pagano. ‘Midway through the season he was finally healthy,’ Pagano said. ‘He missed the whole first year and he finally gained the confidence. … Until you get in there and you take on a double team and put that foot in the ground and take on all that weight on that knee, I think from a mental and physical standpoint he’s in a great place.’

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said he expects WR Mario Manningham to be an important player in 2014. ‘I told him, ‘If we’re going to be the team we want to be, (you) have to come back and make a very strong contribution,” Coughlin said. ‘And he’s excited about that chance.’

Representatives from 31 NFL teams — including Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano and linebackers coach Jeff FitzGerald, as well as San Diego Chargers defensive coordinator John Pagano (Chuck’s brother) — were present for Boise State’s pro day on March 17. The pro day workout was held indoors and run on FieldTurf. Demarcus Lawrence, DE (6-foot-2 3/4, 250 pounds) — Lawrence ran the 40-yard dash in 4.69 and 4.70 seconds. He then stood on the rest of his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine. Lawrence, who has 34 1/8-inch arms, had a very good pro day workout.
