Ravens | Marlon Brown focusing on becoming more complete

Baltimore Ravens WR Marlon Brown is healthy and focused on improving as a receiver heading into the 2014 season. Last offseason, Brown was rehabbing an ACL tear and wasn’t as focused on the nuances of the game. He is working on every aspect of his game, including reading defensive schemes.

Footballguys View: Brown had a surprising rookie season with 49 catches and a whopping seven touchdowns. Fantasy owners should not expect similar production this year. Tight end Dennis Pitta will be back, and the team wants to use more two-tight end sets under new OC Gary Kubiak. Brown will work as the team’s slot receiver behind Torrey Smith and Steve Smith.

Lions | Matt Stafford working on his progressions

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford has been working a lot with quarterbacks coach Jim Bob Cooter on his footwork. There has been an emphasis on his footwork to improve the timing of his progressions.

Footballguys View: If and when Stafford takes the next step as a quarterback, the Lions will become even more dangerous offensively. Stafford has put up huge numbers as a pro, but he still has mechanical issues and that leads to errant passes. If he cleans up his mechanics and gets faster/more precise going through his progressions he can become a fantastic quarterback.

Giants | J.D. Walton works with starters

New York Giants C J.D. Walton worked with the first-team offense during organized team activities Wednesday, May 28.

Footballguys View: Walton has more experience than rookie Weston Richburg. The veteran struggled to be even an average center with the Broncos, and we’re not certain he’ll win the starting job in training camp.
