Giants | Curtis Painter takes part in OTAs

New York Giants QB Curtis Painter (knee) participated in organized team activities Wednesday, May 28.

Footballguys View: Painter is competing for the backup job behind Eli Manning. His competition for the position includes former first-round pick Josh Freeman and second-year pro Ryan Nassib. The Giants are likely to only carry two quarterbacks, and we don’t think Painter will be one of them.

Lions | Several sit out Wednesday

Detroit Lions WR Kevin Ogletree (teeth), RB Joique Bell (knee), DE Ziggy Ansah (shoulder), CB Chris Greenwood (hernia) and LB Brandon Hepburn (undisclosed) did not participate in organized team activities Wednesday, May 28.

Footballguys View: Bell is the guy to keep an eye on here. He could be in for an even better season than he had last year under new offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi.

Panthers | Cam Newton may be ready in June

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (ankle) may be ready for the team’s June 16-19 minicamp, according to head coach Ron Rivera. Newton has thrown some off to the side during the first two days of organized team activities. He’s showing no signs of limping, although he skipped some drills like high steps. Newton added that his foot is getting stronger every day.
