Chiefs | Laurent Duvernay-Tardif works at OG, OT

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said the team used OT Laurent Duvernay-Tardif at offensive tackle and guard during the rookie minicamp, because they want him to learn both positions. ‘We told him we were going to work both spots with him,’ Reid said. ‘He’s probably more natural at the guard spot than the tackle spot, but we want to make sure he learns both.’

Chiefs | Coach happy with Demetrius Harris

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said TE Demetrius Harris performed well during the rookie minicamp. ‘He played exceptionally well. He’s so big, and he’s worked so stinkin’ hard in that weight room. He’s been living in there this off-season and you can tell. You can tell he’s got stronger.’

Footballguys View: Harris is competing for a reserve spot at tight end. The primary tight end for the Chiefs should be second-year pro Travis Kelce. We’ll see him be a productive sleeper this year if he can stay healthy. Kelce missed his entire rookie season due to microfracture surgery on his right knee. The Chiefs lack weapons in the passing game, so if Kelce is healthy he could put up better numbers than some think.

Patriots | Tom Brady expected team to draft QB

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady said he had a good idea that the team would select a quarterback during the 2014 NFL Draft. ‘I had a pretty good idea we’d take a quarterback,’ Brady said. ‘[Head coach Bill Belichick] doesn’t care who the quarterback is here. He’s always going to play the guy who he thinks gives him the best chance to win. It’s not my role to choose players here, thankfully. And this is not the first time they’ve taken another quarterback either. There’s no entitlement in the NFL. I don’t expect to be given anything. I just hope I’m the one most entitled to play that position for a long time here.’

Footballguys View: Brady wants to play until he’s 40-years old, so he could be under center in New England for the next three years. The team added Jimmy Garoppolo in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft to be a developmental prospect behind Brady. He has a lightning-quick release, but he needs to develop his diagnostics skills at the position. Garoppolo’s game falls apart under pressure, so he needs to develop better confidence in the pocket as well.
