Jets | Chris Johnson confident in role as lead back

New York Jets RB Chris Johnson said Tuesday, July 1, that he’s confident he’ll be the team’s lead back this year and won’t be too involved in a timeshare with RBs Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell. ‘Once the season starts and once we’re playing and I’m doing my thing, I’m pretty sure if I’m making plays they’re going to want to keep handing the ball off to me,’ Johnson said. ‘If they want me to continue making plays, I’m pretty sure I can’t do that if I’m on the sideline.’ Johnson said he’s ‘pretty much cleared’ by Dr. James Andrews after coming off offseason knee surgery, and he said he’s close to 100 percent health.

Titans | Delanie Walker has high expectations

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker has high expectations for the team’s offense this year, and he’s a believer that QB Jake Locker is primed to have a big season as he leads the offense. Walker’s goal is to catch 80 passes this year after he had a career-high 60 receptions for 571 yards and a career-high six touchdowns in 2013. New head coach Ken Whisenhunt has a history of creating productive passing attacks, and Walker said he already has a good rapport with the coach.
