Jaguars | Julius Thomas hoping for clearance soon

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Julius Thomas (hand) is unlikely to play in Week 4, but he said he hopes to be cleared soon. Thomas has been doing individual work with a splint on his hand, but he hasn’t caught passes yet. He was checked out by a doctor earlier this week. ‘The good news is, no bad news,’ Thomas said. ‘But no dates (to return), no nothing. Just waiting to get cleared.’

Bills | Sammy Watkins may sit out in Week 4

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (calf) may not be able to play in Week 4 against the New York Giants, according to head coach Rex Ryan. Watkins is not practicing Wednesday, Sept. 30. ‘Part of when he had the surgery, it takes away a little bit of your conditioning,’ Ryan said. ‘He has the pull in camp, misses time. Now he’s coming back and he’s got something else. It’s just one of those things.’
