Giants | Victor Cruz convinced he’ll play

Updating previous reports, New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (calf, knee) finally feels like himself again and is ‘convinced’ that he will make his season debut against the Buffalo Bills in Week 4. Cruz has no pain in his left calf or right knee, although he hasn’t taken part in a full practice yet. Head coach Tom Coughlin said the return of Cruz will open up the team’s playbook and make them more dynamic. ‘I think the training staff kind of wants me to pace it, to not just go from 0 to 100,’ Cruz said. ‘Just kind of take it and kind of go incremental throughout the week and get myself ready to play.’

Browns | Dwayne Bowe not 100%

Cleveland Browns WR Dwayne Bowe (hamstring) is not 100% healthy yet and playing him now could set him back more, according to offensive coordinator John DeFilippo. Bowe was inactive in the season opener and again in Week 3 despite not being on the injury report all week. The Browns have no intentions of cutting Bowe right now and insist that he will factor into their plans at some point this year.

Steelers | Ben Roethlisberger doesn’t need surgery

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) will not need surgery for a sprained medial collateral ligament and bone bruise in his left knee. He said he is dealing with a lot of pain. Roethlisberger will need to play with a brace when he comes back, but he told doctors he’ll wear one for a couple weeks but might stop after that.
