Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera is optimistic that LB Thomas Davis (forearm) will be able to play in the Super Bowl against the Denver Broncos after having surgery to fix a broken right right arm Monday, Jan. 25. ‘If everything goes well, it is my understanding this is something he can play with,’ Rivera said.

Carolina Panthers SS Roman Harper (eye), who was poked in the eye in the first half of the NFC Championship, promised that he would be ready for the Super Bowl against the Denver Broncos. ‘Because of my Lasik (surgery), the flap on my cornea shifted,’ Harper said. ‘It’s just one of those crazy things. They said the odds of that happening are like a million to one. It happens, and I’ll be back.’
