NFL | Alex Collins struggles at combine

Arkansas RB Alex Collins had a lackluster showing at the NFL Scouting Combine Friday, Feb. 26, with a 28.5-inch vertical jump and a 4.59-second 40-yard dash. He also struggled to catch passes in positional drills, making it hard to see him making a strong contribution in the passing game at the next level. Collins limitations as a pass catcher could sink his value on draft day.

NFL | Kenyan Drake improves draft stock

Alabama RB Kenyan Drake had back-to-back 4.4-second 40-yard dashes at the NFL Scouting Combine Friday, Feb. 26, and showed great balance, body control and burst in positional drills. He profiles as a third-down back at the next level.

Footballguys View: Drake is an incredibly explosive back as these drills have shown. He can work well in space, and Drake is going to be part of a RBBC. Drake runs out of control at times, but in the open field he can make field-flipping plays.

NFL | Myles Jack versatile on defense

UCLA LB Myles Jack (knee) said teams have talked to him about playing safety, Mike linebacker, Will linebacker and Sam linebacker. Jack will not run at the NFL Scouting Combine this week because of a knee injury.

Footballguys View: A former running back, Jack can play sideline-to-sideline and does a good job in coverage. He’s an aggressive player who uses natural violence to get around and/or through blockers. Jack should be a top-10 pick in the 2016 NFL draft.

NFL | Health questions for Paxton Lynch?

Memphis QB Paxton Lynch (knee) said his knee issues from back in his redshirt sophomore year popped up in his X-ray at the NFL Scouting Combine Thursday, Feb. 25. ‘That popped up on the X-ray, but it was healed. There were just some pieces of bone floating around in there. So it spooked a team or two I think. They requested the MRIs and all that,’ Lynch said. Lynch, however, said he’s full healthy and is prepared to work out at the combine Saturday, Feb. 27.

Footballguys View: The combine started as a place where medical checkups were done. We’re sure that any team interested in the talented passer would first thoroughly examine his knee. The Eagles seem to be the team most interested in Lynch at this time.
