Packers | Jordy Nelson ahead of schedule

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee last year. ‘I’m not worried about him getting back to where he was. He’s way ahead of schedule. I’ve already talked to him, with this fifth preseason game, about how we play him in the preseason. He’ll work some in the OTAs, but I don’t see him having any limitations come training camp,’ head coach Mike McCarthy said.

Browns | Travis Benjamin dialogue continues

Cleveland Browns impending free-agent WR Travis Benjamin continues to talk with the Browns about a new deal, according to general manager Sashi Brown.

Footballguys View: With the potential return of Josh Gordon, keeping Benjamin would make this passing offense a lot better. Of course, they need a quarterback to get them the ball, but a Gordon-Benjamin corps would be solid.

Browns | Alex Mack sought extension

Cleveland Browns C Alex Mack opened extension talks with the team last week, according to executive vice president Sashi Brown. Brown said that if the team were to retain Mack, they would likely have to strike a deal before his March 4 opt-out clause date.

Footballguys View: Mack would see a lot of interest on the open market, but the Browns will do as much as they can to make this work. Mack is too valuable to the offensive line – and therefore the offense – to let him get away.
