Updating a previous report, New England Patriots LB Jerod Mayo is retiring, his agent, Sean Kiernan, confirmed. Mayo bid farewell to the team and his fans on Instagram Tuesday, Feb. 16. Mayo had an $11.4 million salary cap number this year, so he was unlikely to be retained by the team anyway. He was also due a $4 million roster bonus next month.
