Carolina Panthers LB Luke Kuechly (shoulder) will undergo surgery to repair a partially torn labrum in his left shoulder, according to sources. Kuechly’s availability for organized team activities and minicamp is uncertain at this point, but he is expected to be fully recovered before training camp starts in July.
Seahawks | Seattle wants to protect Russell Wilson
Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson could lose impending free-agents OT Russell Okung and J.R. Sweezy in free agency, but Seattle’s offseason focus will still be protecting their start quarterback. ‘I think that’s a real area of focus again, so we’ll be talking about it,’ head coach Pete Carroll said. ‘We’ve got a couple unrestricted guys [on the offensive line]. We’re going to have to deal with how that works out. It’s a really important area for us, of course.’
NFL | Myles Jack could be cleared soon
UCLA LB Myles Jack (knee) has not been cleared to participate fully in the NFL scouting combine next week, but he expected to be fully cleared in early March. Jack said he feels great and that he can do whatever he wants nearly five months after tearing his lateral meniscus.

Bears | Jermon Bushrod failed physical
Free-agent OT Jermon Bushrod (Bears) was released by the Bears Tuesday, Feb. 16, after he failed a physical. He will cost the Bears $4.4 million in dead money this year, but cutting him saves the team $4.3 million off the salary cap. Bushrod played only 238 snaps this year because of a concussion and shoulder injury.
