Denver Broncos impending free-agent DT Malik Jackson feels fellow free-agent QB Brock Osweiler is ready to take over the starting quarterback job in Denver. ‘He’s definitely someone who’s proven. He’s been underpaid for four years, quietly waiting,’ Jackson said. Osweiler had 1,967 yards and 10 touchdowns in limited action this year.

Cleveland Browns CB Ifo Ekpre-Olomu (knee) said he might be close to playing again after not playing at all since 2014. He was a seventh-round pick in 2015. He said he expects to return for organized team activities in April.

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota will be encouraged to run more in his sophomore season by head coach Mike Mularkey. ‘Designed runs for the quarterback, and my feelings are he can protect himself much better running the football than he can standing in the pocket, and you’ve seen it over time. We’re not going to run him like they run Cam Newton with some of these designed counter plays and things up the middle that are gonna expose him by any means, but I think he’s such a threat in the run game for defenses,’ Mularkey said.

The Arizona Cardinals re-signed S Chris D. Clemons to a one-year deal Tuesday, Feb. 16, and also signed CB Joel Wilkerson to an undisclosed deal. Financial terms of the deals weren’t disclosed.

If that’s to go the full 16, I’m excited about doing that. If that’s to help that guy as he takes over, whatever my role, whatever’s asked of me, I’m just here to win football games,’ McCown said. ‘Whatever my role is, I’m all in. I just want to help.’
