49ers | Colin Kaepernick’s salary guaranteed

San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick was not released prior to the deadline Thursday, March 31, and Kaepernick’s $11.9 million will now be fully guaranteed for 2016. Kaepernick could still be traded, however, especially as the NFL Draft nears.

Footballguys View: We’ll have to see how this works. The trade isn’t dead but it’s looked better and is on life support. If traded, he would have to agree to restructuring the contract, if that is possible. He has no reason to, though, and now there is no point in dropping him since you are paying him regardless. Did the Niners just price themselves out of getting value for him? Does Chip Kelly really see Kaepernick in a significant role in San Francisco? Can the Broncos find cap room? We’re anxious to find out.

Bengals | Brandon LaFell contract details

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon LaFell’s deal is one year in length and has a base value of $2.5 million, including a $1 million signing bonus. He can earn an extra $500,000 for catches, too.

Footballguys View: He might fit as a slot guy, in which case he could be a WR3/WR4, especially in a PPR format. We’ve been burned by him before though and are curious how he does outside of New England.

Seahawks | Derrick Henry has met with Seattle

Alabama RB Derrick Henry said he has met with the Seattle Seahawks in addition to the Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers. Henry could be the second running back off the board behind Ohio State RB Ezekiel Elliott.

Footballguys View: Seattle needs a replacement for Marshawn Lynch and Henry has the look of a bell-cow back who can bring the physicality the team will miss without Lynch.

Chiefs | Charcandrick West contract details

Kansas City Chiefs RB Charcandrick West was signed to a two-year contract extension worth $3.6 million with $2.35 million guaranteed.

Footballguys View: West will probably split time with Jamaal Charles, who is returning from an injury. We think down the road when Charles moves on, West will take over the lead position. At the moment with both players expected to have a significant role, they are no more than RB2s at best. If a clear-cut leader emerges, that guy will have RB1 value in all likelihood.

Jets | Christian Hackenberg to visit Jets

Penn State QB Christian Hackenberg is set to visit with the New York Jets April 10, according to a source. General manager Mike Maccagnan attended Hackenberg’s pro day recently.

Footballguys View: Even if the Jets re-sign Ryan Fitzpatrick, they know he’s a short term answer. Whether they would pull the trigger on an early quarterback is hard to say, but Hackenberg could be a decent option on Day 2.

Dolphins | Knile Davis among Dolphins’ pursuit

Kansas City Chiefs RB Knile Davis is a player the Miami Dolphins have expressed interest in. Davis is believed to be on the trade block. The Dolphins also expressed interest in RBs Jamaal Charles, Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware, but those talks appeared to go nowhere.

Footballguys View: The Dolphins are looking to replace Lamar Miller and while they believe in Jay Ajayi, they need better insurance behind him. Davis has played well in spots and we’d like to see what he can do full time. He would be a solid fit in Miami.
