Free-agent OTs Kevin Graf (Eagles) and Mitchell Van Dyk (Steelers) signed undisclosed deals with the Indianapolis Colts Wednesday, April 20.
Houston Texans DE J.J. Watt (groin, abdomen) is close to completing his rehabilitation from groin and abdominal injuries that required surgery in January. Watt said he feels good and is close to 100% as he participates in the Texans’ offseason conditioning program.
San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick may still be traded this offseason, according to general manager Treny Baalke. Baalke said he would never say never in regards to a trade, but he does not want to package Kaepernick as part of a trade. Baalke added that the 49ers still want Kaepernick on the roster, but he has not completely ruled out trading the quarterback.
Atlanta Falcons OG Chris Chester re-signed to a one-year deal Wednesday, April 20, worth a maximum of $2.8 million, according to a source. Chester is coming off offseason shoulder surgery but is expected to be ready for offseason activities in June.
Footballguys View: Chester played all 16 games at right guard for the Falcons, and will help keep some continuity on the line, which has also added Alex Mack in the offseason. Chester had shoulder surgery in January, but should be ready for the start of the season.
Memphis QB Paxton Lynch will be a consideration for the Cleveland Browns at their No. 8 overall pick. Lynch has already had a pre-draft visit with Cleveland.
Memphis QB Paxton Lynch’s draft stock may have taken another bump up with the Philadelphia Eagles trading up to the second overall pick for what is presumably a quarterback. Lynch figures to be the third quarterback selected, and NFL Network analyst Lance Zierlein believes prospective teams will have to trade into and above the top 20 to have a chance at drafting Lynch.
Philadelphia Eagles QBs Sam Bradford, Chase Daniel and likely one of North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz or California QB Jared Goff will cost the Eagles more than $42 million. Bradford is due $18 million, Daniel is due $7 million and Went or Goff will be due at least $16 million, including a signing bonus.
Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford will remain the starter after the team acquired the No. 2 overall draft pick Wednesday, April 20, according to Eagles executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman.
California QB Jared Goff or North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz falling to the Philadelphia Eagles at No. 2 overall is fine with the team as they’re looking to ‘invest in quarterbacks,’ according to Eagles executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman.
Footballguys View: They are tight with Rams ownership so, if the Rams know (and we believe they do) then the Eagles know who they are getting. As GM Howie Roseman has said that they know who they are getting and referred to a rookie quarterback, we’re guessing they moved up knowing what was happening. We think Wentz would be a good fit for this offense and he could sit behind Sam Bradford for a year while he developed.
